What exactly do we mean by „Art Loans“??
Our partners are major national and international art dealers, galleries and professional collectors who view artworks as an investment. They all have the opportunity to take out a loan against their artworks with IBB for a period of 1 to 7 years and thus generate cash. For these financing projects, we will cover the costs of the valuation and insurance of the artwork and store it in an art warehouse, for example in Zurich or Geneva.
What is particularly important here?
Works of art are not like any other product. This is why providing financings requires not only banking expertise, but above all a deep understanding of the mechanisms of the art world. As we are one of very few banks worldwide that co-operate directly with leading experts, we are an equal partner for our international clients.
What makes IBB particularly attractive for the customer?
Usually, there is not too much overlap between the art scene and the banking world. A „normal“ bank is used to looking at and assessing the borrower’s environment and personal circumstances. This doesn’t really work in the art world. That’s why we focus entirely on the artwork. Only the picture counts. The associated „banking“ effort is reduced to a minimum for the customer: There are no hidden costs. As a rule, only interest is charged.
What experience does IBB have in this area??
IBB has been active in the art market for many years and we are pleased to say that we have become a renowned partner in this area. Typically, loans with an LTV of up to 40 % have a volume of at least € 0.5 million up to around € 15 million. However, this can vary in individual cases.
A special market requires special knowledge. The best way to find out more about art and money is to talk to our experts directly.
